A visit to a family, organic winery
We walk through the historic underground stone vats that our grandfather, Lluís Vives, built in the 1960s and which today are the ageing cellars for our cava, at a steady 15 °C all year round.
We explain the traditional method step by step. We farm 27 hectares organically, we do not press the grapes and we do every step by hand, just as our ancestors did.
The tasting: 12 award-winning wines and cavas
A guided tasting of 6 cavas and 6 wines, designed to show our full range:
- Long-aged cavas, aged 2 to 8 years, far beyond the commercial standard.
- Rare varieties, such as Xarel·lo Vermell or the Ancestral 100 % Moscatell.
- Award-winning wines such as the Jujol white, Best Aged White in Catalonia (Vinari 2024).
The Vives family, Jujol and the Sanctuary of Montferri
The Vives family was key to the building of the Sanctuary of Montferri: in 1922 Josep Vives i Solé donated the land and promoted the work, entrusted to their distant cousin, the architect Josep Maria Jujol, a collaborator of Gaudí.
In tribute to that bond, one of our cavas and one of our wines carry the name Jujol. As well as the winery, one of the most striking modernist landmarks on the Costa Daurada is right next door.
